Despite numerous rebrands, The Chadwell Arms, or more recently Rendezvous Bar & Grill and the Nuevo Bar and Grill, struggled as a viable business.
Working with a local partner and local architects, who noted that the large site would be highly suitable for a mixed retail and residential development (meeting a demand for new homes), we financed the purchasing of the site in 2014.
The new development site at Chadwell Court falls within Redbridge local authority, a council that recognises the necessity for affordable housing. The high-density, high-quality, community-focussed project that will be constructed at Chadwell Court helps to address this shortage in supply.
Given that the site is situated less than 200 yards from the future Chadwell Heath Crossrail station, it correlates with one of the group’s key criteria proximity to new transport infrastructure.
Planning permission was obtained from the council to demolish the old building and replace it with a new three-storey building that provides a ground floor commercial unit with 12 flats on the floors above. The plan also incorporates car parking, new landscaping, community amenity space and terraces for the community to enjoy.
